Facial Massage

Neck and throat facial massage technique using Japanese Shiatsu...

For the massage points on the neck, use the index and middle fingers of both hands, the left hand for the left side of the neck and the right hand for the right side.

The points shown in the illustrations above are for your general guidance only. The idea is to cover the neck area with light to moderate pressure.

Do corresponding points on both sides at the same time.

  • Place the index and middle fingers of your right hand under your jaw at the side of the top of the windpipe.
  • Do the same on the left side with your left hand. Give light (10-pound) pressure for two seconds, into the muscle, not the windpipe. Pause.
  • Move your fingers down slightly and repeat the pressure.
  • Continue down the line to the base of the neck, giving light pressure at each point for two seconds.
  • Bring your hands back up to the top of the neck and repeat the pressures. Trace the major neck muscles from the top to the base of the neck.
  • Finish the facial massage with temple digitopressure (shiatsu).
